Personal Tidbits since 1964

I’m big into birding, camping ,reading history,  and working on genealogy.  I love traveling around the US and Canada looking for family sites, visiting historical sites and looking for birds wherever I am.  I have been a medical technologist for 31 years!  I have survived some very serious family traumas, and still have a sense of humor!

News of Family

None of my siblings attended College El (although Buck still lives in Mount Pleasant)….guess there was only room for one at the time we moved to the “mountain” town.  My parents are enjoying retirement out in the woods near Baldwin.  My dad took an early retirement from CMU.  My kids are what we used to call professional students at this time.  My daughter ,Bonnie, says that grad school is a good racket if you can get it but she’s getting quited tired of being poor.  She is pursuing a PhD in Zoology in British Columbia, getting her funding in Canadian dollars which is a good way to remain poor.  She does do research in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, which is a pretty neat place.  I drove, with my son, 6286 miles to visit her there last summer.  That’s the longest trip I ever want to take by car.  My son, Allen, after a 9 years stint at active duty in the US Coast Guard, is currently pursuing a Masters in Epidemiology at Michigan State.  Perhaps both will amount to something one of these years (just kidding!)

Memories of the College El

Colleg El camp was the first time I’d gone to a group camp.  It was fun, as I recall, though the last day I got sick.  I remember the trip home on the bus as one of personal misery which I promptly shared with my family in the form of the “Asian” flu.  All six of us were down for a solid week.
