Recollections of College El

learning spanish, swimming in the college pool, summer school when no one else got to go, fantastic art projects taught by real artists, small classes, and lasting friendships.

Personal News

Brother: Andrew Marks and "Betty" both went to college el. Although Betty couldn't get in until first (or second) grade. My mother learned her lesson and enrolled Andy before he was born! My father died in 1979. The cemetary delivered a headstone for both parents, stating "George Marks, 1900-1979" and "Stella Marks, 1906-19__". My mother made them take off the "19__". Then, to prove herself right, she managed to live into the 21st century. She is currently at the Mt. Pleasant medical care facility, but in very poor health.
My wife, Patricia (Foster), moved into Mt. Pleasant about 1957-58. We dated in high school and married a week after graduating college. Pat was a teacher for a while, but switched to being a government worker and has worked for the Census Bureau for 27 years.
We have two sons: Andrew G. - budding artist and web page designer- and David G. - still attending college and deciding what he wants to do.
